The rigid seal type 20 consists of a chamber seal made up of two parts (upper and lower part) that are screwed together. The material is light metal. It offers IP44 class protection. The chamber seal is a non-contact seal consisting of two labyrinths. The inside retains the lubricant, while the outside prevents the ingress of water and dust.
As rigid seals are subject to a running-in process at the beginning of their use, during which they adapt individually to the shaft, the tolerances mentioned should only be applied to new, unused chamber seals. The running-in process is desirable and ensures that the seals run without contact. This does not restrict the sealing function.
